Corporate Social Responsibility Policy

Corporate Social Responsibility is the way we, CEM Solutions (UK) Ltd, describe how we measure and control our impact on society. This includes our contributions to the economy, our employees, the environment and the wider community.

Our Legal Responsibilities

Our Company is:

Committed to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the abolition of modern slavery and human trafficking. Our recruitment process is designed to ensure that all prospective employees are legally entitled to work in the UK and to safeguard employees from any abuse or coercion. We do not enter into business with any organisation, in the UK or abroad, which knowingly supports or is found to be involved in slavery, servitude or compulsory labour.

Supply Chain – we procure goods and services from suppliers who demonstrate that they also have robust systems for the above.

Our Moral Responsibilities

Our Company will:

  • Commit to complying with the principles and laws of the Bribery Act 2010 and any amendments made to such legislation and acts.
  • Compete fairly within our industry, adhering to all relevant legislation and, if necessary, will seek legal advice (or industry ‘best practice’ advice) in order to ensure honest trade.
  • Treat our customers with respect and seek to provide the best possible service for them in whatever respect we have been entrusted.
  • Pay our suppliers on time.
  • Support charitable initiatives that align with our company values, reviewed annually through the CSR strategy.

Our Employee Responsibilities

The Company will treat our employees fairly and ethically. We will:

  • Ensure that each employee’s traditions and beliefs are respected and encourage and promote diversity, in all its forms, throughout the organisation. We do not discriminate on any grounds or any category protected by applicable law. We seek to foster safe, inclusive and respectful working conditions.
  • Ensure that employees have the chance to realise their full potential and have the tools necessary to develop and grow through learning and training opportunities.
  • Foster a supportive internal environment, not only focusing on our own role, but rather thinking about what we can do to help our peers in their role. Internal training and development will always be encouraged.
  • Operate an ‘open-door’ policy allowing employees to raise thoughts/concerns/ideas with line managers, HR and the directors of the Company. We will hold quarterly meetings with all employees to promote this.
  • Encourage employees to ‘think outside of the box’ and offer suggestions as to how any policy or process can be improved.
  • Reward employees for hard work, collective effort and long service in the Company’s growth aspirations by operating a Bonus Scheme for all employees on Permanent Contracts of Employment.
  • Encourage positive working relationships and the development of teambuilding skills outside of a typical ‘work’ day on our ‘Company Days’ – at least an annual event, on top of seasonal celebrations.
  • Support and understand employee well-being, ensuring staff are encouraged to maintain an appropriate work-life balance. Our baseline annual leave is 33 days – 5 days over the statutory minimum. After every two years’ continuous service, employees are entitled to one day extra annual holiday, up to a maximum of three additional days.
  • Acknowledge the benefits of improving our own physical and mental health and support ways our employees can do this day-to-day.

Our Environmental Responsibilities

The Company will be active in looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. As a minimum we will:

  • Reduce waste – look for ways to reduce, re-use and recycle materials used on our premises and whilst traveling for work activities.
  • Travel smartly
  • Reduce energy consumption / be more energy efficient – think carefully about our energy usage and be as efficient as possible.
  • Increase environmental education and share ideas – be active in talking about ways we can reduce our carbon footprint and report on progress made.

Our Wider Responsibilities

The Company will look for ways to provide a contribution to the community in which we belong and to society as a whole:

  • Charitable giving – annual donations to charities of our employee’s choice on their birthday.
  • Community Interaction – have an annual company-wide volunteering day where we work with a local group/organisation to help them with a particular challenge/need they might be facing.
