During annual extended maintenance visits our CEMS Service Team perform CEMS Functional Testing including Linearity checks as per BS EN 141481.
Our specialist equipment for these tests is a calibration gas blender with vaporiser. For this we utilise the HovaCAL from IAS (Inspire Analytical Systems) based in Germany. Our team carried out remote training with Oskar from IAS earlier this month. Whilst they are highly experienced with using the HovaCAL for extended maintenance visits, they specifically wanted to know more about the functionality of the HovaCAL’s in-built software. Our engineers learned how to automate gas and liquid feeding by using a script to pre-set the temperatures, flow-rates and ratios of gas/liquids.
The training served to reinforce our Service engineers’ existing knowledge, increasing their confidence with the use of this important calibration device as well as giving them a more in-depth understanding of the intricacies and additional functionality that the HovaCAL offers, such as the ability to fully automate a test allowing more efficient and consistent testing of gas components for optimum repeatability. This potentially saves valuable time on site as well as reducing the cost and use of consumables too.
Being taught how to troubleshoot the HovaCAL, therefore preventing as little downtime as possible, was another time-saving hack of interest to our engineers.
