With budgets being increasingly squeezed and the life of ageing equipment being stretched, CEM Solutions understand the need to be flexible and innovative in order to meet customer’s unique requirements.
This customer, who has been supported by the CEM Solutions service team for several years, needed to replace a faulty dust probe. However, due to having a third-party controller which is now obsolete, this would have meant replacing the working controller and a second working dust probe at a much higher cost than the available budget would allow.
The CEM Solutions (UK) Ltd team worked closely with the customer, working through the options available and provided the most cost-effective proposal in line with the site environmental operating permit.
Installation of the CEM Solutions (UK) Ltd CEMWare data collection and reporting panel allowed for integration of the signals from the old but working system and the addition of a new Dr Foedisch PFM20 MCERTS certified dust probe at the same time.
Accepting measurement data from the existing system, CEMWare unlocked new functionality of the entire dust monitoring system. The customer can now connect to the unit remotely for reporting and trending activities as well as having the comfort of remote support from the CEM Solutions (UK) Ltd online supervision team.
The installation of the new CEMWare panel and PFM20 probe was completed in one day using existing cabling and power connections. No measurement data was lost throughout the working day, maintaining permit compliance throughout the upgrade process.
This partial upgrade has extended the life of the old but working equipment but allows for seamless future replacement of it as and when required. A second new PFM20 will be installed in the coming weeks on a recently installed dust collector.
