The STA in person General Meeting and AGM were held for the second year in Letchworth Garden City, a lovely place in Hertfordshire famous as the world’s first planned garden city.
On the Agenda was voting in the officers for 2026 – 2028. James Eldridge from Element will be the chair, and I will be joint Equipment Suppliers’ Officer, alongside Antony Sumner who has been doing a great job in the role. I am excited to be selected to represent equipment suppliers at the STA and look forward to adding my experience and input.

The ‘Health & Safety’ section this year covered ‘Working at Height’ which included risk assessments, working on platforms and ladders and the importance of rescue plans.
The ‘Quality & Technical’ section covered proficiency testing, MCERTS and regulator updates and updates on the various task groups.
‘Events’ covered upcoming CEM exhibitions in both Malaysia and Ireland.
‘Equipment Suppliers’ covered the 17255 Part 4 task group updates, discussion on the issues of stack sample port positions, issues with supply of goods, issues with C14 samplers and the challenges of remote connections / cyber security. These topics generated some good discussions and will be followed up in subsequent STA meetings.
‘Process Operators’ discussed QAL3 audits and CCUS / UK ETS.
Following on from the meeting there was a barbecue and drinks which was a great opportunity to catch-up with familiar (and some new) faces from the industry.
